German Model 1871 Mauser Bolt Action Carbine, #5769B, 11.15x60Rmm cal., 18.5'' barrel, blued finish, hardwood stock, inverted-''V'' front sight with protectors, and adjustable folding leaf rear sight with ''V''-notch, graduated to 1100 meters. Left side of the receiver is marked ''K.Mod.71''. Top of the barrel shank is marked ''OESTERR.WAEFFB.GES'' and the left side with ''(Crown)FW''. ''1876'' is stamped on right side of the receiver. There are crowned inspection stamps on right side of the receiver and barrel shank; faint inspection stamps on the underside of the buttstock. Condition overall is fair, with most metal parts showing browning, wear, and patina. Rear sight bed screw is missing and the bolt handle has been flattened. Wood is fair, showing handling marks and darkening. Forend has been ''duffle cut'' and reattached, and the tip of the forend has been reshaped at the front sight protectors. Action operates smoothly but the safety lever will not engage and needs to be repaired. Bore with a few areas of old pitting; otherwise, bright with good rifling. Est.: $300-$400. (Antique)
